PAYMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

By making a payment, the student agrees to abide by these legally binding terms and conditions and our general terms of service. We reserve the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.

1. Payment for each lesson must be made in advance through electronic funds transfer (EFT) to our bank account as per the invoice issued to the student. A tutor is only allocated to the student upon receiving the proof of payment for the lessons.

2. The scheduling of the lessons is done by mutual agreement between the tutor and the student. This ensures flexibility in the times suitable for both parties.

3. If the student is not satisfied with the quality of the lesson, we will do our best to resolve the issue, including offering a different tutor or a free rescheduling of the lesson. The course of resolving the issue will also include fact finding to establish whether the quality of the service was below acceptable standards. If the issue cannot be resolved and evidence is sufficient that the lesson was of poor quality, Double B Academy will issue a full refund to the  student within 5 working days.

4. The student should inform the tutor of any cancellation or rescheduling at least 60 minutes before the scheduled start time of the lesson. If the student fails to do so, they will incur a penalty fee equal to 50% of the payment made for that lesson. The penalty fee covers partial payment to the tutor for the time wasted and such amount shall be deducted from the refund due to the student or the next payment made by the student for subsequent lessons.

5. If a student chooses to cancel a booked lesson(s) (and requesting a refund) for reasons unrelated to the quality of the service or the tutor cancelling the lesson as provided for in section 6, the student shall be charged a penalty fee equal to 10% of the payment made for that lesson(s). The penalty shall be deducted from the refund due to the student or the next payment made for subsequent lessons. If a discount was given to the student for courses they have booked, such discount shall fall away if partial refund is requested for some of the booked lessons. Effectively, a refund revokes all discounts previously given and the full cost of the lessons shall apply before calculating the penalty fee.

6. If the tutor cancels or delays a lesson until the student no longer requires it, the student may choose to move the payment to another course, another semester or request for a full refund.

7. A student who is using our online services for the first time or getting a new tutor may request a trial lesson, which will be free of charge for a maximum of 30 minutes, after which the student may choose whether to continue the lessons or not. Where the student deems the test lesson to be of unacceptable quality, such student may be issued a full refund, subject to the provisions of Section 3 above.

8. Students with bursaries/scholarships that undertake to pay for their tutoring lessons may provide such evidence of the undertaking by the bursary/scholarship and maybe allowed to start the lessons immediately before the proof of payment is received from their sponsor.

9. Payment plans can be issued selectively to students who do not have money at the time of booking the lessons. The payment plan must be approved by the Double B Academy admin before it can be activated. Double B Academy reserves the right to decline any request for a payment plan at its sole discretion.

10. Where a student is issued with a payment plan, the student should ensure to make payment due to Double B Academy on or before the date stipulated on the payment plan. Where a student defaults payment without requesting for a grace period from Double B Academy (the granting of such grace period of which is at the sole discretion of Double B Academy), such student shall be charged a penalty fee of 10%. Double B Academy reserves the right to seek legal relief and to permanently ban such student from accessing all its services.
